The President of Georgia met with the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly

The President of Georgia met with the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly today within the scope of his visit to Prague. Common values, development of democracy in Georgia, and the ongoing integration process in the alliance were the main topics of discussion. The sides also discussed future plans and focused attention on the necessity of deepening cooperation. Mikheil Saakashvili and Karl Lamers spoke about the ongoing democratic process in the country.

Karl Lamers focused attention on the importance of the President of Georgia’s visit. He once again expressed support towards successful reforms implemented in the country, and stressed that Georgia will definitely become a member of NATO.

The 58th NATO Parliamentary Assembly is being held in Prague by the initiative of Karl Lamers on the 10th anniversary of the NATO Prague Summit in 2002, which was the biggest enlargement summit in the history of the alliance. According to the statement by Karl Lamers, it is very important and symbolic that 4 aspirant countries are attending the Parliamentary Assembly, including Georgia.
