Judges swear before President Saakashvili

Today 34 judges who won an open competition, swore before the President Mikheil Saakashvili their allegiance to the law of the land at the State Chancellery.
Mikheil Saakashvili and the Head of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Kote Kublashvili, discussed existing problems in the court system with the judges. As one of the first instructions to the judges the President demanded them to be objective and independent in their decisions when passing a verdict.

"We have a serous crisis in the court system. Today the patrol police and the prosecutor's office enjoy more public trust than the courts. Therefore we must put an end to the existing situation in the court system," President Saakashvili said at the meeting with judges.
