The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili is paying a working visit to Poland

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili is paying a working visit to Poland. Mikheil Saakashvili started his visit with a meeting with the Prime Minister of Poland. The main issues of this meeting were integration into European structures and existing situation on the occupied territories. "We are extremely grateful to Poland not only for its attitude towards the Georgian nation, but because of those political messages that we always hear on the international arena. Such messages are of vital importance for Georgia. Georgia went through a catastrophe. The fact is that we have not only survived, but we have the highest ratings around the world. Poland knows very well what happened last August but it is necessary for the other European countries know it", stated the President of Georgia.

Mikheil Saakashvili met his Polish counterpart. During a four-hour-meeting the perspectives of relationships between the two countries and Georgia's NATO integration were discussed.

"I had very important meetings with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and now I am here in this Palace together with the President of Poland Lech Kachinsky.

He spoke about the events that took place last summer. I want to take this chance and express my gratitude for the support he provided during those hard days for Georgia.

Georgian people are grateful not only for his brevity and heroism, but also for his political messages.

Poland stands beside Georgia and understands best those challenges that the Georgian nation is facing.

We face the occupation from Russia, ethnic cleansing facts that was proved by international society.

The conclusion of the Independent Investigative Group of European Commission is published. The German experts actively participated in the work of this commission, we do not quite agree with some clauses though in this document the most important is stated - whatever Georgia says about August war is true.

We permanently feel the support of Poland. For this we are grateful to Polish people", said Mikheil Saakashvili.

After the meeting the Presidents held a joint press conference.

By the end of the visit the President of Georgia together with the Georgian delegation went to the Polish museum of occupation, laid a wreath on the memorial of the Polish warriors fighting for freedom and gave an interview to the 1st channel of Poland.

‘Those political messages that come from Poland are very important for us.

Poland has always been a strong supporter of Georgia regarding its integration on Euro Atlantic structures and NATO.

But on the other hand Georgia is a very important country, it is small, but has a great influence in the region.

We have signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation with US that is active supporter of Georgia.

Not long ago EU published a conclusion on August war. The Commission said Georgia was speaking the truth and what Russia said turned out to be false.

We continue to go forward. We participate in Eastern partnership program.

I think we are very close to make the Visa regime easier with EU countries.

Georgia has adopted the act of economic freedom. I believe that the country should be non-corrupt and must have liberal economic policy, and Georgia is an example of it.

Our fight is not over yet. There is a new Berlin wall erected in Europe. People still fight for freedom and I am sure that the will of freedom will win", stated the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili.
