Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and government officials tour new Tbilisi airport terminal

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili today toured the newly opened Tbilisi International Airport terminal together with Finance Minister Aleksi Aleksishvili, Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili, Georgian Railways head Irakli Ezugbaia, Border Police chief Badri Bitsadze and other officials. On the president's order VIP gates at the terminal were closed. He also ordered that the head of customs at the airport be dismissed. The president charged Georgian Railways building a train station outside the terminal.
"It is now forbidden for border personnel to allow people to cut ahead in passport check cues. Everyone will come in and go out as ordinary people. This applies equally to ministers and ordinary passengers," he said, going on to order Minister Merabishvili to "put a great big padlock on the VIP sections. That era has ended."
