The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visited the Republic of Moldova today. Official welcoming ceremony was held in the honor of President Saakashvili at International Chisinau Airport. The acting President of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu personally welcomed Mikheil Saakashvili at the airport. A tête-à-tête meeting between two leaders lasted about an hour. By the decision of the acting President of Moldova in regards of deepening Georgian-Moldavian relationships and for the assistance expressed by Georgia for Moldavian people during natural disaster in 2010, Mikheil Saakashvili was granted the highest award of Moldova - the Order of Republic. Official awarding ceremony was held at the State Residence.

The President of Georgia and the Prime Minister of Moldova Vlad Filat discussed bilateral relations and future perspectives during their meeting at Chisinau. After official meetings the President of Georgia visited village Obilen together with the high officials of Moldova, where Georgian side constructs residential houses and a kindergarten for the population damaged during the natural disaster.
