President Saakashvili visits General Prosecutor’s Office

General Prosecutor Zurab Adeishvili and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivane Merabishvili presented a report on the achievements and structural reforms in their agencies after the "Rose Revolution" to President Mikheil Saakashvili.

President Saakashvili positively evaluated the work of both the ministers and the agencies emphasizing that during the passed year and a half significant progress was made.

"Society wants equity. People would love both Police and Prosecutor's office if you do good job," the President said, adding that now once the law enforcements has regained the public trust, it is crucial to preserve it.

The President has underlined that during this period a new police force and the Prosecutor's Office was created, which was a crucial basis for establishing a brand new state. President Saakashvili particularly emphasized that the new staff of these structures is competent and honest. Human rights violations have considerably decreased and a drastic struggle against corruption and smuggling has been launched.

The President also commented on the development of small business stressing that the law enforcements could contribute to this process.

President Saakashvili instructed the law enforcements to improve the work carried out by state intelligence, considering that there shall always be external forces trying to cause disturbances and destabilization and provoke conflicts within the country. "Never cease struggling and do not be afraid [...] Georgia will become prosperous, southern-eastern European country," the President said stressing that Georgia has a unique opportunity to realize it.
