President of Georgia Meets Estonian Colleague in New York

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves at the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York today. The two heads of states discussed Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations as well as bilateral relations between Estonia and Georgia and the current state of affairs of Georgia’s development. The two leaders also touched upon the bilateral cultural and economic relations. President Ilves stressed his country’s unconditional support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He also expressed hope that Georgia will be successful in the context of initializing and eventually signing an Association Agreement with the European Union.

In his turn President Saakashvili thanked his Estonian colleague for the support and assistance Estonia rendered to Georgia during and after the Russian invasion of Georgia of 2008 as well active support in the context of Georgia’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures.
