The President of Georgia visited the Tbilisi Information Service Center

The President of Georgia visited the Tbilisi Information Service Center today where the registration of those wanting to learn a new profession and the issuing of 1000 GEL vouchers is taking place. Mikheil Saakashvili personally registered the first student of vocational education and gave her a study voucher. Mari Bibilashvili, who is from a socially unprotected family, was given a study voucher as a result of the President’s new initiative. The Head of State spoke with other’s wanting a voucher at the center and noted that before choosing their final profession, the youth has a chance to test themselves in various spheres.

“It is not necessary to study at the University by the age of 20. You can choose one profession instead, work in this direction for a while, and then decide whether you want to keep working in this direction. You can then, if you desire, choose another profession. That’s how it is in foreign countries – people chose a profession based on experience and they attend a university if it is necessary. The most important thing for a person is to have profession and achieve results this way” – stated Mikheil Saakashvili.

People, who want to learn a new profession, will receive 1000 GEL vouchers. The registration started today and will continue until April 20th. These vouchers will fully finance the socially unprotected students, also the students that have finished the ninth or twelfth grade by this year and have decided to pursue a vocational education.

The spring registration has begun at the Kutaisi and Kobuleti centers as well; those interested will get complete information before the beginning of registration. The state has allocated 7 million GEL for education vouchers, giving an opportunity to 7,000 people to get vocational education.

Mikheil Saakashvili attended the beginning of the second project initiated by him. The students celebrated the beginning of registration for the Summer Job Program with a Flash Mob musical show. 25,000 students will be employed in various organizations from July 20 to August 20 and receive 500 GEL as a salary.

Registration will begin on March 20 and continue for one month.
