President Saakashvili visits natural disaster-stricken regions

President Mikheil Saakashvili visited landslide and flood-stricken regions in western Georgia on October 8. "Soon the Georgian government will start taking immediate measures to eliminate the damages caused by the natural disaster. The government will do its utmost to ensure that 10 thousand residents of Ozurgeti, Guria region did not feel themselves abandoned," President Saakashvili said when meeting with the local population in Ozurgeti. 
President Saakashvili talked about the performance of Irakli Giorgadze, interim governor of Guria region, who had helped some people survive and deserved the President's special thanks. 

Mikheil Saakashvili also visited the family of Gedevan Potskhishvili, the residents of village Khidistavi, who died during the landslide, at the Chokhatauri hospital. "In two days the Potskhishvils will move to a new apartment. All the necessary furniture and commodities are being bought for them," - President Saakashili said. 

Today five trucks of humanitarian aid were sent to the area from the Presidential fund. The aid will be distributed to those who suffered the consequences of the landslide tomorrow.
