The President of Georgia invited the OSCE for a thorough and detailed investigation of the yesterday's incident in Tskhinvali, South Ossetia as a result of which, several people have been wounded. The President expressed serious concern over the incident.

He instructed the local military and the Interior Ministry officials to fully cooperate with the OSCE and to take all the necessary measures to find out the whole truth and to punish the responsible; to create mechanisms for preventing any possible confrontations. He also ordered the health services to instantly provide the wounded with all the needed medical assistance.

At the same time, the President stressed again the necessity of immediate resumption of peace talks (from which the Ossetian side has walked out since January) over the peaceful settlement of conflict in Tskhinvali region. The resumption of peace talks must resume without any preconditions. The President strongly denounces any violence and reiterates that conflicts can only be solved by peaceful means.
