The Spokesperson for the President of Georgia held traditional briefing

 

The Spokesperson for the President of Georgia expressed her deepest sorrow and condolences to the families, relatives and friends of those people, who died during the disaster. As Manana Manjgaladze noted the President is informed in details about the situation in the region of disaster, how the process of rehabilitation and cleaning works goes on.

"You had a chance to observe the meeting that the President held yesterday and listen to the action plan developed by the Government of Georgia; what actions are already being fulfilled and what are the plans of resisting the disaster", the Spokesperson added.

As Manana Manjgaladze noted the Administration of the President of Georgia is in contact with the leadership of regions permanently. The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Energy an Natural resources, the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and all existing rescue services within the region work in special regime. Special groups sent from the capital are conducting rehabilitation works.

"It is true that the major task in these conditions remains the security of the population", the Spokesperson noted. As MananaManjgaladze pointed out rehabilitation works are going on in every spot that was damaged during the disaster. The major task of the Government of Georgia is coordinated working process in order to avoid difficulties that might appear in the nearest future.

The Spokesperson expressed condolences on the behalf of the President of Georgia to the family and relatives of the soldier that was killed during the fulfillment of peaceful mission in Afghanistan. As she noted the Georgian military, private Gia Goguadze was serving in III infantry brigade in Helmand Province within the frames of ISAF. He was shoot during Talibans' attack, however it was impossible to save live of the soldier because of heavy wounds. As the Spokesperson noted the state would cover all expenses related to the funeral of Georgian soldier.

One more issue Manana Manjgaladze stressed her attention on was the visits and meetings that are planned in Georgia in the nearest future. The President of Georgia will host the Polish Sejm Marshall GjegojSchetina later today. One more visit of US Congressmen is planned by the end of June in Tbilisi as well.
