Manana Manjgaladze once again congratulated the entire population of Georgia on behalf of herself and the Administration and summed up the events of the past week.

First of all, the President’s Press Speaker touched on the issue of building hydro electric power plants in the Dariali gorge.

“Dariali and Larsi hydro electric power plants are part of the big energy project the implementation of which has already begun. The construction of new plants is not only a guarantor of our energy independence, but a source of employment for a lot of our compatriots” – stated Manana Manjgaladze.

Construction of 15 hydro electric power plants is going on across the entire country (Racha, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti, Guria and Adjara) where more than 2500 persons are employed. The construction of one more plant will begin in Svaneti in a few days. Mikheil Saakashvili will personally inspect the works administered at the construction of Nenskra hydro electric power plant. The new plant will have capacity of 210 megawatts; 1200 persons will be employed at the construction and 630 million USD will be invested in the project in total. Nenskra will become functional in 2017.

“Construction of one more hydro electric power plant will begin in 2012 where 13,000 persons will be employed. It has to be noted that the general number of employed persons will even increase, because construction of other large plants are beginning” – noted the Press Speaker.

Aside from this, Manana Manjgaladze spoke about one more opportunity of overcoming poverty, which is related to the profession education centers. The President opened one such center in Ozurgeti already, and very soon one more center will be opened in Adjara, in Kobuleti specifically.

At the end of the briefing, the Press Speaker spoke about the meeting held in Washington regarding the US Georgia Charter on Strategic Partnership.

“Four work groups are working in four main directions – these are defense and security, economy and trade, a group on democratic cooperation, and one more on relations between the peoples.

It is planned to assess the reforms implemented in Georgia within the scope of the charter and set an action plan for the current year between the two partner nations. Chairman of the National Security Council Giga Bokeria, is heading the group” – noted the Press Speaker.
